Let us remember those....
June 6, 1944 - Omaha Beach, the coast of Normandy (France):
My Dad, John George Beckett of the United States 1st Infantry Division, landed on the Easy Red sector of Omaha Beach that morning.
I was pretty hard on my Dad from about age 16 to about age 23, a fact that I am somewhat embarrassed by now. I mean, all the folks of his generation did was save the world......

It was also my Mom's birthday. Happy birthday Mom!

Thanks for remembering D-Day Jerry. Your Dad must have been very young when he joined or had you late in life. Yes,.....they were The Greatest Generation! I was born in 1941 and am a WWII buff.

AC -
The latter. My Dad was 46 and my Mom 42 when they adopted me at age 1 in March 1968.....
My Dad joined the Army in summer of 1941, won a Silver Star at Kasserine Pass in Tunisia and a Bronze Star later in Europe. He also received two Purple Hearts.

I would be very proud of him. How can any of us ever repay all those brave men? I saw the WWII series on PBS las Fall, (I believe) and it was gruesome for most of them. I admire them and all our Armed Forces....we live in a great country because of them.
